Le Gros Solicitors – The Wallich Football Tournament

Le Gros Solicitors have been taking part in 'Clash of the Corporates' which is a fundraising initiative organised by The Wallich. The Wallich is a homeless charity who have been providing accommodation and support services for homeless people since 1978. The task set by The Wallich was for businesses in Cardiff to compete against each other and turn an initial £50 investment into as much money as possible.

Le Gros Solicitors decided that our main fundraising event would be a five-a-side football tournament. The event was held at House of Sport, who were very generous in allowing the firm free use of their 3G pitch, meaning all the entry fees received could be donated to The Wallich.

We were really pleased that The Wallich could enter a team of service users into the competition. They joined 11 other football teams that were put together from businesses in Cardiff and they battled it out over 3 rounds in the hope of making it to the semi-finals. After two very exiting (and competitive!) semi-final games, the last two teams to enter the final were revealed - Cardiff City Coaches v Office Image. This was a game which had already taken place in the first round and had resulted in a draw, so, both teams very eagerly wanted to win and be the Le Gros Solicitors - The Wallich Tournament Champions!

At the end of a highly enjoyable morning the final whistle was blown by the firm's Managing Partner, Claudia Le Gros. The final result was 3-1 to Cardiff City Coaches. The winners were presented with a trophy, a box of celebrations and a bottle of wine for each player which had been kindly donated by Fine Wines Direct UK.

The morning was concluded by a delicious buffet lunch which was prepared and very kindly donated by Milk and Sugar. All the players thoroughly enjoyed the food and had time to reflect on a busy morning!

Managing Partner of Le Gros Solicitors, Claudia Le Gros says: "Being a predominantly female business, organising a football event was definitely a challenge! We are delighted that the event was a success and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Most importantly, we are thrilled at the amount of money and awareness that has been generated by this event for such an important charity."

Le Gros Solicitors would like to say a huge thank you to all of the various businesses mentioned above for their assistance and generous giving and to the following teams that took part, donated and showed support for this extremely worthy cause:
