For 3 years, Le Gros Solicitors have organised and hosted the 'Le Gros Football Tournament'. Businesses from all sectors in Cardiff are invited to take part and compete to be crowned champions in this annual event, with all money raised going to charity. This year, the chosen charity was The Jacob Abraham Foundation. This is a small local charity set up by Nicola and David Abraham after the death of their son in October 2015. Jacob was aged 24 when he tragically took his own life. The charity aim to help prevent suicide through direct intervention with vulnerable people, raise awareness on mental health/suicide issues, promote positive mental health and support people bereaved through suicide in South Wales.
The kind donations from individuals and companies are essential to raising as much money as we can for our chosen charity. As with previous years, the event was held at House of Sport, who were very generous in allowing the firm free use of their pitches. Their in-house café, Café Central also generously provided all players with a wonderful curry after the final.
In the end, after a tiring and competitive round of games, MGY were crowned champions (for the 2nd year running!) and were very worthy winners. MGY and runners up, Acorn Property Group, were awarded with wine donated by Bridgetime Transport and Sainsburys and a voucher donated by Bottle Shop Penarth. We were also fortunate enough to have 3 referees give up their time to make sure all the games ran smoothly!
The grand total raised was £1,200.00, all of which has been sent directly to the Jacob Abraham Foundation to continue with their fantastic work. Le Gros are thrilled at the amount of money and awareness that has been generated by this event for such an important charity.
Le Gros would like to say a huge thank you to all of the various businesses mentioned above for their assistance and generous giving and to the following teams who took part, donated and showed support for this extremely worthy cause:
